The World Health Organization and the International Water Association have launched a new training package to support the step-by-step development and long-term implementation of Water Safety Plans (WSPs) for drinking water suppliers.

Aligned with the Water Safety Plan Manual (2nd edition), the package offers practical, hands-on guidance for applying a preventive, risk-based approach—from catchment to consumer. Through interactive lectures, real-world case studies, group work, and field exercises, participants learn to identify hazards, prioritise risks, strengthen control measures, and enhance monitoring and verification.

This new training package integrates cross-cutting priorities such as climate resilience and equity, helping utilities deliver more robust and inclusive water services.
