The WHO’s Regional Office for Europe has released a new publication titled “Checklists for Strengthening Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Emergency Preparedness and Response: Focus on Ukraine.”

Developed in the context of the war in Ukraine, the guidance provides practical checklists to help local authorities assess and strengthen WASH system resilience in emergencies. Aimed at protecting public health, the tool supports rapid restoration or continuity of essential WASH services. While tailored to Ukraine, the checklists are adaptable for other conflict-affected settings.
